Confidence is the white whale for a lot of people. Knowing how to increase it becomes a matter of understanding the nature of confidence vs. fear, shifting your focus, and feeding that confidence. In this episode I show you how to do this, plus I give you dozens of specific ways to boost your confidence immediately while you’re building up your confidence reserves. I also talk about why you need to surround yourself with successful people, and how that can contribute to your own self-view.
Here is the diagram mentioned in the podcast, the Confidence Continuum. The far left represents extreme self-doubt. The far right represents extreme narcissism. Now, a confident person might normally exist in the middle, with their max confidence slightly higher, yet still nowhere near narcissism. But to a person who is less confident, someone else’s NORMAL might still be higher than their MAX. This is why some people will view you as cocky or conceited when you are actually just confident. They cannot understand how someone can naturally just be that confident. This is also why you shouldn’t be worried about increasing your confidence level based on how others are going to view the “new you.”
